Ohio Valley Voices and Dayton Children's Hospital Collaborative
In May of 2019, Oho Valley Voices (OVV) an early intervention program for children who are deaf or hard of hearing in Loveland, Ohio and Dayton Children’s Hospital (DCH) in Dayton, Ohio began discussing a potential collaboration of services for children who are D/HH and their families. These services would coordinate audiology services and listening and spoken language (LSL) services for children (0-3) in Montgomery county and the surrounding area. Currently, there are no coordinated services for children who are D/HH and their families. By partnering we would establish a clear pathway from diagnosis of hearing loss to treatment to audiology services to LSL services for children who are D/HH. It is well documented that early identification and early services for children who are D/HH provide the best outcomes for them. This presentation will discuss the key components of a successful collaboration of services. The dynamic of merging a medical model with a center base model will be discussed. Designing a medical home model where both organizations can provide the family support necessary and the early intervention LSL services to ensure the best outcome for children who are D/HH will be highlighted.

Maria Sentelik has been the executive director of Ohio Valley Voices an early intervention program that teaches children who are D/HH to listen and talk for 20 years. She has presented in Ohio and nationally in the areas of listening and spoken language, early intervention for children who are D/HH, early identification of hearing loss. She has participated in projects centered on a collaborative approach to services for children who are D/HH.
